Who we are

Brain is a Research Company based in Milan (Italy) that creates proprietary algorithms and datasets for investment strategies, combining experience on financial markets with strong competences in Statistics, Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing. Brain also supports clients in developing, optimizing and validating their own proprietary models and algorithmic solutions. 

The position

As an A.I. data engineer you will be primarily responsible for developing algorithms using a wide number of approaches, from statistical methods to A.I. and NLP tools, in robust software solutions, integrate diverse data sources, and transition innovative concepts into production-ready frameworks that adhere to industry standards and running on cloud infrastructure.

The position will be based in Milan, Italy, with the possibility of working remotely for a relevant part of your time, depending on specific projects.

You will take on the following responsibilities:

- In a research-driven setting, you'll engage in software development by utilizing cutting-edge statistical, machine learning and natural language processing libraries. You'll design and implement predictive models, conduct computational experiments, and rigorously validate hypotheses.

- Integrate diverse data sources to ensure they are ready for machine learning analysis, contributing to the creation of innovative data products.

- Transition innovative concepts into production-ready frameworks, creating alternative data products that adhere to the highest industry standards—from initial ideation through to deployment, infrastructure setup, and final productization.


Required qualifications/skills: 

- Advanced degree in a scientific subject (Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science,) with strong computational and analytical skills and a drive for research. A Ph.D. in one of the above subjects would be a plus.

- Ability for well documented and well tested software development.

- Experience with data integration projects.

- Experience in any of these areas: statistical modeling, probability, finance, economics.

- Experience with database systems and database design .

- Excellent programming skills in Python.

- Fluent in English and Italian.

Required qualifications/skills: 

- Knowledge of machine learning and natural language processing tools (e.g., Scikit-learn, Pandas, TensorFlow, Spacy, NLTK, PyTorch, etc.).

- Experience with non-relational databases like MongoDB.

- Experience with cloud environments (e.g AWS) and setup of virtual machines.
